Reject Empty Promises
&
Rebuild Trust with God.
In the middle of that Halloween rave, God broke through into my heart. I felt a holy, pure, and safe nearness as these words washed over me:
Little girl, You are not alone. Precious one, there’s never been a moment you were forgotten. I weep for your loss, and I am moving you into my marvelous light.
Without a second thought, I said “yes”. Whoever this holy and mighty being is, I want more. Amid abandonment and grief, I experienced peace and belonging. Jesus built an authentic relationship with me, and it changed everything.
As someone who was given many wrong definitions of God growing up, my hope is to call out many of those misconceptions about God today. These include the beliefs that God judges without grace, is disappointed in people, cannot protect them from harm, or does not care about their pain. In contrast, I hope to reveal the truth about a God who is near and trustworthy. I want to paint vivid pictures of Jesus’ true heart, mind, and character through His story of redemption in my life. I hope it helps you find wholeness and encouragement in Him too.
My encouragement today:
Pursue truth in the face of a culture that contradicts it. Let our God-of-mercy bind up your broken-heart and set you free from shame, guilt, and fear as no sin is stronger than God’s grace. TEAR OUT the competing loves in your heart and let go of the hardness and anger you have against God who has compassion for you.
Holding fast to authentic and undiminishing hope amid deep heartache, I encountered a God who is for me. I want to remind you that you are never too far gone for God’s love. He does not call you by your sins or by the things that you have done, whether we’ve lost a sense of His presence for weeks or years. The promises of the world lead to pain and death, but God restores what the locusts have eaten, transforming you through patient healing, a redeemed identity, and a renewed trust in Him.
